About Geographics » Company History
As you enter Geographics' lobby, you can't help but notice the magnificent wall sculpture of the Phoenix rising from the ashes that dominates the East wall. Most people admire it with the understanding that it is the symbol of the City of Atlanta. But those who understand the history of the company know that it also represents the story of Geographics, itself.
Geographics is the vision of owner, Norvin Hagan, who, in late 1976, scraped together what money he could and borrowed the balance to purchase an old, bankrupt printer and renamed it, Geographics. And from the ashes of that failed concern, Norvin has built a company that now ranks as one of the largest, privately-owned, graphic arts companies in Georgia.
Geographics suffered plenty of growing pains. But the vision remained and he persevered. His stamina and determination has built a successful company in a tremendously volatile industry. And while the sales figures, as a measure of the company's success, continue to grow, from nothing at the start-up to its current level, Norvin usually prefers to proudly point out that Geographics now offers employment to over 180 Atlanta area families.
Geographics offers high quality printing from web, sheet-fed and digital presses. It is recognized for its state-of-the-art prepress and technology services. Its fulfillment operation, GeoDirect, continues to be the fastest growing department in the company. And Geographics looks toward the future.
While Geographics is always mindful that we have our customers to thank for our growth and success, the direction, inspiration and leadership of this company has come from its founder, Norvin Hagan.
As you can see, Geographics really is much like the Phoenix rising! From practically nothing, it had become a powerhouse in the Graphic Art community in Atlanta and the Southeast. It is a company, confident, poised for the future and rising from those long ago ashes.
