Geographics Certified as FSC Printer- Again!
Atlanta, GA – June 30 2009 – Geographics Inc, one of the first Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified printers in Georgia, has been recertified by SmartWood under the new more comprehensive standard FSC-STD-40-004 version 2-0.
Steve Anthony, FSC program leader at Geographics said, “We are proud to be a part of this international program to conserve the world’s forests, and to meet the rigorous standards required of a chain-of-custody printer. We began to produce FSC certified projects for clients in 2007, and the demand has grown steadily as more and more companies want to highlight their ‘green’ credentials. The Forest Stewardship Council is an independent, non-profit, international organization so it has substantial credibility. Consumers know and trust the Checkmark and Tree logo.”
There are two parts to the FSC system. Forest management certification ensures that the forest is managed to high standards covering social, environmental and economic issues. The Chain of Custody certification traces the wood from those forests through all stages of processing and distribution. From forest to printed piece, every converter must meet strict FSC standards.
“We can give clients the best of all worlds with crisp, brilliant UV color on 100% post consumer FSC certified paper” according to Bill Turner, press superintendent. “Designers were delighted to achieve great color on uncoated earth-friendly stock. UV inks reduce volatile organic carbon (VOC’s) production as well. That helps keep the air clean.”
Geographics chain of custody number is SW-COC-002389
